Cozy Up To A Book Club

The third meeting of the Cozy up to a Book Club was held on September 27, 2018 at the leasing trailer at Legacy Oaks Azle Senior Community.

We had a wonderful meeting today. Each of the book club members talked about favorite books and ones we would like to read. We decided that there would be two books selected for the next month’s discussions. One a more serious book with possibly an R rating based on language, violence and sexual encounters.

The other book would be lighter, perhaps a cozy mystery with a PG rating and lighter. more humorous subject matter.

We decided on The President is missing by Bill Clinton and James Patterson.

The President Is Missing confronts a threat so huge that it jeopardizes not just Pennsylvania Avenue and Wall Street, but all of America. Uncertainty and fear grip the nation. There are whispers of cyberterror and espionage and a traitor in the Cabinet. Even the President himself becomes a suspect, and then he disappears from public view . . .

Set over the course of three days, The President Is Missing sheds a stunning light upon the inner workings and vulnerabilities of our nation. Filled with information that only a former Commander-in-Chief could know, this is the most authentic, terrifying novel to come along in many years.

Members of a certain book club are dying on Mercer Island. One woman drives off a cliff. Another drops dead in her peach cobbler at the St. Claire Inn.

When the inn’s owner, Julia Applegate, becomes the prime suspect, she recruits her “sixty-something” group of friends to launch their own investigation. Together with the inn’s resident ghosts, they go after the truth. Add a talking parrot who likes to quote old movies, a Harlequin Great Dane, two miniature Dachshunds, and a very handsome detective (or two), and get ready for a romp down mystery lane! Join Lynn Bohart’s thousands of satisfied readers with this popular cozy mystery.

23rd meeting.

Hope to see you there.
